An Attractive Nineteenth-Century Set of James Fenimore Cooper
COOPER, James Fenimore. [Works]. New York: D. Appleton and Company , 1883.
Thirty-two octavo volumes (7 13/16 x 5 1/2 inches; 199 x 140 mm). With steel engravings reproducing the original illustrations by F.O.C. Darley, including text illustrations and frontispieces and engraved title-pages (with guard sheets).

Contemporary half tan polished calf, double-ruled in blind, over marbled boards, spines decoratively tooled in gilt in compartments, with olive morocco gilt lettering labels, marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Minimal wear to extremities, some very minor fading to calf and boards, a few tiny, expert repairs to ends of spines. Except for very light occasional edge-browning to stock, and occasional faint spotting to first few pages, including frontispieces and engraved titles, a near fine set, very crisp and fresh, in a contemporary binding.
