Bound by Riviere & Son in contemporary full blue morocco. Covers decoratively paneled and lettered in gilt in a grape motif. The front cover set with Eve and the serpent in the Garden of Eden executed in calf and morocco onlays in various colors. Both covers read in gilt "Oh Thou, Who Man of Baser Earth Didst Make, and Who With Eden Didst Devise the Snake, For All The Sin Wherewith The Face of Man is Blacken's Man's Forgiveness - and Take." The rear cover with a serpent and goblet motif in gilt. Spine decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments. Five raised bands. Gilt board edges and gilt dentelles. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. A beautiful, fine copy.
