Complete set of nineteen volumes. Small octavos (6 3/8 x 4 inches; 162 x 103 mm). Colored frontispiece to each volume and many other black and white illustrations throughout.

Each volume in publisher's original cloth. Cloth colors include green, blue, brown, red, orange and maroon. Front and back boards ruled and stamped in black black ink and lettered in black, with with the words "The Hans Andersen Library" on each volume. Spines stamped in black and gilt with the individual book titles. Some very minor rubbing to extremities, otherwise an about fine set. All volumes housed together in the publisher's original red cloth clamshell. Clamshell with printed paper label on inside cover with a list of the titles. The outer cover of clamshell stamped in black and gilt, gilt quite faded. Box shows wear with some edge repairs with cloth tape. Overall a near fine set.
